VISION STATEMENT
To be the preferred provider of employment opportunities for people who are blind through the use of cutting edge technology and facilities. Alabama Industries for the Blind will continually increase the number of employees by providing innovative products and manufacturing services, by establishing additional satellite manufacturing facilities and retail stores, by partnering with major companies, and by furnishing products and contract services that exceed customer expectations.
For more than 60 years, Alabama Industries for the Blind has served the blind and visually impaired of Alabama. A non-profit organization employing nearly 300 people, AIB has manufacturing facilities in Talladega and Birmingham, Alabama. At AIB we are in the business of manufacturing, yet we are also in the business of providing a wide range of job opportunities for blind persons.
AIB's high quality blind-made products are marketed to customers throughout the United States. Our customer base includes the Federal government and U.S. Military, Alabama state government including the Departments of Transportation and Mental Health, the Alabama National Guard, public schools and universities, Lions Clubs and Federated Women's Clubs of America, as well as a strong base of commercial customers.
Along with our manufacturing operations, we operate Base Supply Centers at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, Moody AFB at Valdosta, Georgia and Fort Rucker in Dothan, AL. These Base Supply Centers (BSC's) are in the business of providing the best in office supplies, computer accessories, cleaning and janitorial products to our men and women in uniform.
Our mission at Alabama Industries for the Blind is two-fold: 1) to provide jobs to blind workers that will afford them the dignity that goes with holding a job and being a wage earner and 2) to consistently provide quality products and service to our customers.
